While this movie desperately attempts to be comedic and is enjoyed by kids, it’s still a sad reminder of how deep and wonderful the original teen titans was. The show itself made fun of how watered down the story became, focusing on fart jokes and immature humor (while not always a bad thing, a show solely containing poo jokes is not something I want to sit down and enjoy), and once the content itself admits to being terrible, there is no return. The comedy in this movie isn’t even wholesomely fun like the LEGO Batman movie, it’s just a far fetched attempt by the producers to stay relevant to kids as better shows are created. I may be extremely biased as someone who grew up on the original, but I’m very unhappy with the direction the show and ensuing movie has gone. I miss tough choices, character development and points where the characters struggle with the weight of saving others while still being children themselves. I don’t recommend this movie, instead please just watch the original show.
