A PERFECTLY CRAFTED FILM Seriously one of the greatest films ever made, every aspect of this film is fantastic and masterfully crafted. The score and themes are beautifully composed. And it elevates every scene to a whole new level. This also gives the film a personality, it’s some great work from Nina Rota. The script by Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo is perfect. The whole story of this family is just perfectly executed with some fantastic dialogue. There are so many iconic lines in here. The dialogue is straight to the point and perfectly illustrates each character and who they are as a person. This script will be studied by film students and film enthusiasts alike for years to come. The acting is superb as well, Marlon Brando’s portrayal of Don Vito Corleone is one of history’s greatest performances from an actor ever and is super iconic. It’s played to perfection and Brando gives a performance with such depth and understanding. Al Pacino is brilliant in the role of Michael Corleone and gives such a great subtle performance. You can tell what he’s thinking just from some eye movements. If you seen this, you know what I’m talking about, just from THAT SCENE. The supporting cast also gives some phenomenal performances. James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, and John Cazale are all great. The cinematography is amazing too. A lot of the shots are set in the dark, but still look amazing because the lighting in this film is perfect. They either have faces pop out of the darkness or they are casted in a shadow, just like how their character is hiding their true intentions. It’s brilliant. Overall, this is one of the greatest stories ever told in cinematic history and is also one of my favorite films. Everything works so perfectly. I don’t think it’s THE GREATEST, but I understand why it is called that, and it’s definitely one of the best.
