This is such an amazing film version of the book. The book is also one of my favourite reads, and the film didn't disappoint which is a tough gig after the book! Emma Stone plays the main character and attempts to tackle race issues in her hometown of Mississippi, which is illegal at the time it was set. She attempts to interview maids, who are also afraid to speak out. I think it's an important depiction of the climate in the US at the time, and it's something that we hold never forget. At time in the film, you feel so angry, but you also feel such empathy for the characters.
