Eh if you’ve anticipated this for 10+ years, then I would say it’s disappointing. First of all I’m surprised to see how similar the plot is compare to the first one, I feel there’s just too much repeated elements (within this film alone or compare to the first one) (I watched the first one half heartedly just before watching this one) that I get a bit tired towards the end. The visual of course is great. Seeing it in IMAX 3D, few shots gave me very unique experience, like I’m on a ride in Universal Studio. And I really enjoy watching the Pandora world unfolds, even through some parts feel really slow, it’s beautiful and refreshing to see the world and the creatures that live in it. This brings up the pacing, which I feel is very equal. The film, in a way I feel like it’s a game, the same story just takes place in the water world. (A new map) I gotta say the princess in the water tribe is just so beautiful, charming! Every time she appears on screen, I’m captured by her! Oh and I can not find a reason how the Navis allow human build such a large city/fortress on Pandora! And the railway! Which means there are multiple fortresses! How could Jack allow the completion of railway, he should destroy it every time the humans try to build it. Also in the end Spider saves his dad… I’m just like… (huge eye roll) I never buy the whole “blood is thicker than water” thing. Ok so yeah this guy is your dad, so what… He never cared for you, he kills your friend, your family, destroys your home, destroy everything you ever cared for, and you save him? Just cause he’s “your dad” and you guys spend a couple of happy days together? This just saves the villain for the third Avatar, which I feel is just so lazy, and I have no wish to see the third Avatar if it’s just gonna be the same thing in a new map again… I’m interested in the world of Pandora, but not the story, at least not the kind of story I see now.
