Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a stellar film. No, it's not as good as Empire or a News Hope, but no Star Wars films ever will be. One it's own it is interesting, has a great cast, a great score, and a complicated well-thought out plot. It is also a return to a maturity in Star Wars lost in the prequels. My complains are minor, probably personal, and at the end of the day not enough to dock points. Personally, I think there are too many jokes at times, and I wish they'd kept the tone of the originals more precisely. Also, while JJ Abrams does a great job directing he should not have been the person handling this series. There are far too many mystery boxes in this film, and like Lost, they will only end up disappointing or never coming to fruition. Still, enthralling from beginning to end, and no other films can do what Star Wars does.
