I definitely feel that the talented actor Tim Burton found himself a new playground when he resurrected the "Planet of the Apes" franchise. The movie did not feel like a remake nor did it feel like a sequel, it just felt like its own stand alone movie; an original! A great respect to paid to Boulle's novel with Tim Burton's careful depictions of characters and precious of aesthetics launched and executed perfectly throughout this fantasy and action-packed movie. It will definitely get you wondering which is more human; humans themselves or the apes?

Although highly criticized, I consider this movie to be good enough. The storyline, although not original but replicated, is interesting with several plot twists along the movie. This thrilling production, will make you wonder how a world ruled by monkeys may indeed look like, or at least whether it is possible in a distant future to coexist with other advanced species

Mark Wahlberg stars in this somewhat outdated film where apes speak English clearly and freely in a post apocalyptic future. The plot is the most admirable and interesting thing about this film - how did these characters/the world get to this current state? Why did the apes take over? Etc. Other than this the film fails to engage with its characters, script, or casting choices that sometimes become laughable.
