Carlito's Way

Movies ・ 1993

Crappy rehashing of Scarface. Pacino’s acting is surprisingly bad and his Puerto Rican accent is worse. In fact, nothing about the movie feels Puerto Rican, despite is taking place in the Nuyorican crime world, supposedly. Jellybean Benitez is a legend but his soundtrack is shamefully disappointing, relying on the most cliched, famous disco hits, which together with the halfassed costumes and 90s haircuts, make this look more like a 70’s themed house party than a movie actually set in the 70s. Predictable and boring, and the romance is hard to buy into too.
