Mad Max
This is the film that launched Mel Gibson's career into stardom. I would say, that it was a primer for the second Mad Max movie "The road warrior" which to me is one of the greatest road movies of its time. However, the first one is all the more significant , as the traumatic and violent thing that happens to him and his family, develops Gibson's "Max" into the iconic character of a post apocalyptic world. Hats off to director George Miller.
