The director Mike Nicholls "The Birdcage" is a homage the classic French farce "La Cage aux Folles." The romantic comedy is not centered around plot but rather around the characters and the spiderweb of twisted comedy that surrounds them. I really enjoyed how the movie moved into the LGBTQ+ community with multiple representations of the oppressed homosexuals; shedding light to sensitive topics in a clever and inventive way. How could this movie not be a hilarious and knee-slapping masterpiece when Robin Williams is in the cast?

I thought The Birdcage was a great remake of the French film La Cage aux Folles, if not better. Robin Williams and Nathan Lane give hilarious and astounding performances as the lead couple. This is a great film to watch and I would recommend it to anyone.
