A new Soviet nuclear missile sub (a Boomer) heading out on her maiden voyage that is being tracked by a Los Angeles class American submarine suddenly goes silent and "disappears". This focuses the attention of both U.S. Intelligence and the U.S. Navy on the Russian Sub Commander . When it is determined that the silent Soviet Boomer may be headed for American coastal waters panic ensues. A CIA analyst, Jack Ryan, convinces the brass that the Boomer's commander may intend something other than a nuclear first strike in mind. A perilous and tense cat-and-mouse game ensues.

Director John McTiernan, launched the military thriller The Hunt for Red October into cinematics. The movie is jam-packed with intelligent characters, such as Jack (played by Alec Baldwin) and Marko (depicted by Sean Connery). Being set during the Cold War era, I recommend to any viewers with an interest in Soviet Russia history.

How did I not know about this film! As a fan of spy thrillers I’m surprised I’ve Berber seen this one. What I find the most intriguing is that it takes place during the Cold War. Many people don’t know anything about the US-Soviet Cold War, and so mixing a mysterious/confusing war with spies and action sounds right down my alley!

"Typical" Soviet-American spy movie. The interesting thing about it is that at multiple points of the movie you think you got the plot now, and then suddenly something not expected happens. This makes the movie very thrilling. I guarantee you definitely want to know the end, as longer as you watch the movie

A Soviet-United States rival movie, this is filled with a lot of secrecy and betrayal. It gives insight into what went on during the cold war by capturing the exciting, terrifying events. Even today, there is still unease in the political atmosphere, which this film exacerbates.
