"The Passion of the Christ" is a film about the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus. Director Mel Gibson received much criticism from critics and audiences for his explicit depiction of and focus on violence and on christs suffering, especially on the part of the jewish community. The films languages are Arabic, Latin and Hebrew and its actors are laymen which was controversially received as well.

Really moving and accurate. It follows properly the passion of the Christ described in the Bible and shows his suffering in an unbelievable way. Whether you are Catholic or not, this movie is a must watch.

A chilling but realistic take on the most important event in Christian history. I found it very powerful and thought provoking. As a Christain I believe it is one of the most intense and closest to the actual historical event.

The first film I ever cried profusely to. Not that I am super religious or anything, but mainly because it felt so relatable on a human level. It touched me. I struggled with seeing the inhumanity so bluntly in front of me. The rawness of it took away the sort of mythical quality that these religious tales tend to be described in which I do appreciate. Don’t think I would watch it again though.
