Dances With Wolves is a film that has unjustly been condemned by the critics of time. Principal to this is the criticism that it's a "Great White Messiah" trope. However, that's not actually what it is - it's actually an anti-Great White Messiah trope. Sure, it has all the plot details of the GWM trope, but it comes to opposite conclusions. Kevin Costner is not the hero of the film - he's merely narrating the plot. Of course a film genuinely depicting Native Americans from a Native American perspective would be better, but this film it's nearly as bad as people think. In fact, it has great performances, incredible photography, and the plot is compelling. It's worth watching.

An incredible movie that has a story with a deep meaning and beautiful scenery that is nearly impossible to replicate. Kevin Costner gives a beautiful performance as a US soldier who befriends the Native Americans that everyone thinks of as enemies.
