In the year 10,191, the world is at war for control of the desert planet Dune – the only place where the time-travel substance 'Spice' can be found. But when one leader gives up control, it's only so he can stage a coup with some unsavory characters.

The complex narrative, the excellent world-building, and the powerful performances all work toward this being one of the greatest sci-fi films of its era. Dune captured my imagination at a young age and influenced the way I view sci-fi in my adult years. Beyond that, as a writer, I find myself including narrative development or character development points from this subconsciously. Frank Hebert‘s novels will never truly be translated to film; however, this captures the essence of his work well; It is among the must-watch sci-fi films I constantly recommend.
