Other than the setbacks in the story and acting departments, Uzumaki breeds an eerie, unsettling and creepy atmosphere that few films can achieve. Especially, various camera techniques are used brilliantly to visualize the crazy obsession.

As a big fan of Junji Ito's works for a long time now, I'd say that I'm quiet impressed and wowed by this film. The film truly captures the real elements of the manga; even the comedic side of it. I love how they put filter in it making it very original and also completes the uzumaki atmosphere. I really loved the casts, the transitions, visual effects, and even the choice of camera angles. I didn't expect this from a film that was released 20 years ago.
