An average film that has been overhyped in my opinion by film lovers just because of its title, its director, and its nostalgia to this time period. The Spielberg-Abrams effect should be taught in film textbooks, as it does capture the ability to bring the viewer back into the 70s-90s in a very nostalgic way. For me, the characters weren’t very likable and therefore I couldn’t relate or care for their experiences as much. I’ll stick with Stranger Things.

Not what you would normally expect from a teenagers movie. I watched it a couple times and I really liked it. It is engaging, with an amazing storyline behind and great visual effects. Be ready to be intrigued

This film is like “Stranger Things” in movie form. Being Elle Fanning’s first big film she blew me away. The mix of retro and aliens was done perfectly by director J.J. Abrams.
