Beowulf thrives in the art form of CGI. The characters are almost creepy with the actors being presented as animated figures, however, once you are able to get used to that, the film itself is pretty entertaining. Definitely a great nod to the ancient English epic hero poem.

I read the original classic story translated in English back in high school and when I saw this movie it wasn’t too bad! The original story of Beowulf can be confusing but this movie depicts it so that you can understand who Beowulf was. Good visuals too!

I want those this film in so badly! I still remember when it came out and I was too young to see it, but now I don't know what's keeping me from renting it. I may have high expectations for a film that came out more than ten years ago, but I still feel like I will enjoy it.

Beowulf as a story is ancient, but the way it is made is very interesting. It manages to get the sense of pessimism that these kinds of stories often are soaked in. The acting is fine, it is not distracting, but what is the show stealer are the visuals. I like the idea of motion capture film, and even though I think it works here, I am still waiting to see a narrative or thematic reason to incorporate this visual style.
