A thrilling and inspiring true story begins on the eve of World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation. As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.

very theatrical portrayal of Churchill's most famous times, speeches, and cigars, while also having a little imagination and creative liberty on some other moments. the entire film is carried by Gary Oldman's characterization as the UK's Prime Minister, giving an great perfomance... then again, one wouldn't really expect much less from Oldman. Other than Oldman's character, the film is pretty ok but not amazing. The story had the potential of going into a much -ahem- darker place but it was preferred to play safe (and slow.) Cinematography was good for the most part, but many shots (and their correction) seemed a bit too forced to be "cinematic-looking."
