Night of the Living Dead

A group of people try to survive an attack of bloodthirsty zombies while trapped in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse. Although not the first zombie film, Night of the Living Dead is the progenitor of the contemporary "zombie apocalypse" horror film, and it greatly influenced the modern pop-culture zombie archetype.

manages to make incredibly slow moving zombies that you could escape from at a normal walking pace terrifying.

Though this is a fine film, with a decent atmosphere and a hanging sense of dread, it is more interesting because of its placement in film history. The fact that it has a black protagonist was ver controversial back then, and also the very graphic violence was shocking. It is thus more interesting seeing this film and realising how far we have come. Still though, pretty good film besides all that.
