Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

The hilarious story of a woman who escapes after being trapped underground for many years, Kimmy Schmidt is a refreshing exploration of regular sitcom tropes. It’s hilarious to watch Kimmy attempt to navigate modern day New York after being isolated from society for so long. The jokes in this show are relevant and fresh, and tackle current issues such as deportation and education issues. As the show progress Kimmy is able to make and maintain relationships while also overcoming the heavier topic of her abduction. The show doesn’t shy away from darker topics and while it comes at such with a comedic angle, it never tries to make Kimmy out to be in the wrong. Viewers know that Kimmy struggles with many issues and struggles to overcome them, but her naivety and happy go lucky nature makes us all root for her and hope she’s able to find closure eventually. Cycling through her development, the actors play their roles extremely well, and the jokes are never overdone or old. A really good time and a feel good show.
