A spin-off from The Vampire Diaries and set in New Orleans, The Originals centers on the Mikaelson siblings, otherwise known as the world's original vampires: Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah. Now Klaus must take down his protégé, Marcel, who is now in charge of New Orleans, in order to re-take his city, as he originally built New Orleans. Klaus departed from the city after being chased down by his father Mikael, while it was being constructed and Marcel took charge. As Klaus has returned after many years, his ego has provoked him to become the king of the city. "Every King needs an heir" says Klaus, accepting the unborn child. The child is a first to be born to a hybrid and a werewolf.

I haven’t gotten up to this season. I loved all the other seasons of the original spinoff. The writers did an amazing job of developing the characters outside of vampire diaries while still keeping it tied together. A lot of elements went into the show development without it getting too confusing. It was truly riveting and I cannot wait to watch the next season and see what else Klaus will do

As a spin off of the popular "Vampire Diaries" series, I found this one actually more enjoyable. The main characters of "The Originals" starred in the later episodes of "Vampire Diaries" and stole the show. I found it smart to create this spinoff because it adds a more laid back interesting story.

The Originals is based off one of the vampire families in The Vampire Diaries and is one of the reasons I watched Season 1. However, I found it not nearly as interesting as Vampire Diaries and pretty slow. The acting is good but none of the main characters are really very attractive (they are in Vampire Diaries) and the plot line is just okay. I would watch this show because its on Netflix but otherwise, don't bother.
