One of the biggest natural disasters ever to hit the country, the Great Kanto Earthquake killed nearly 150,000 people and threw Tokyo, the nerve center of the nation, into chaos. Out of this chaos emerged the social atmosphere which led to the militarism of the following decades. Believe it or not, there were female Sumo wrestlers actively entertaining the citizens back then.
