ロバート・デ・ニーロの父親は殺人犯だったが、捕まえた警部がいい人で養父となって育ててくれ、自分も警察官になり、多くの功績を挙げている。 しかし、妻とは離婚、息子とも長い間、会っていない。 息子はヤクにおぼれ、売人を殺して追われる羽目に。 今の恋人役にフランシス・マクドーマンドを使っているので、もう少しドラマ に厚みが出せればもっと良かったと思う。

ありがちな設定だし、普通といえば普通だが、それでも何かを感じ考えざるを得ない映画だと思う。
