夜8時からのニュース番組が舞台、メインキャスターはウィル・マカヴォイ、共和党員だが公平な伝え方が好感をもたれていた。 大学の討論会で女子学生に大人げない態度をとり、しばらく休暇をとる。 局に戻ってみるとスタッフが一新され、プロデューサーは元カノのマッケンジー・マクヘールだった。 ドラマは現実のニュースの伝え方をメインに、恋愛を織り交ぜ、テンポのよい会話で楽しませてくれる。 ニュースは編集の仕方で視聴者をリードできる怖さがある一方、インタビューで権力者と対峙し、化けの皮をはぐという面白さもある。 「視聴率の取れるニュース番組とは」このテーマは視聴者層を絞らないと難しい。
