Night of the Living Dead
A group of people try to survive an attack of bloodthirsty zombies while trapped in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse. Although not the first zombie film, Night of the Living Dead is the progenitor of the contemporary "zombie apocalypse" horror film, and it greatly influenced the modern pop-culture zombie archetype.

투쟁하는 흑인과 이기적인 백인. 희망을 잃거나, 사랑을 지키거나, 외딴집에 갇힌 7인의 남녀를 통해 당시 미국의 안팎을 골고루 은유한다. - 좀비영화의 교과서로 평가받고 있지만 '교과서'가 그렇듯, 특출난 독창성을 지닌 것은 아니다. 구울신화는 예전부터 존재했고 비슷한 이미지도 잔재하고 있었다. 그럼에도 이 영화는 강력하다. 페이크다큐식의 연출이 신화에 사실성을 부여하고, 엔딩의 이미지가 이것을 사건화하여 여전히 진행중인 듯, 여운을 남기기 때문이다. 오싹한 해외토픽, 음모론, 로스웰 사건기록 따윌 접했을 때랑 비슷한 공포다. 묘한 반신반의. 1968년의 미국 관객반응은 안들어도 알 것 같다.
