Into every generation a slayer is born: one girl in all the world, a chosen one. She alone will wield the strength and skill to fight the vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness; to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their number. She is the Slayer.

There are not enough words to describe how much I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It is a show about a girl (Buffy) who kills vampires and monsters because she is the chosen one. Although all Buffy wants to do is lead a normal life as a regular teenager. What is so special about this show is not only the side characters (who are amazing and fleshed out and interesting) and interesting storylines, but Buffy herself. Buffy is a badass woman who defeats the forces of evil, while also being very feminine. Too often when writers want to depict a strong, female character she comes off as masculine (as if the only way a woman can be powerful is if she acts like a man). But Buffy is girly, and she’s not afraid to act it. She is feminine and powerful. The series shows that those two things are not oxymorons.
