父を亡くし、母親と2人で暮らしをしている11歳の少年ドレ（ジェイデン・スミス）。彼は母の転職を機に、アメリカから中国・北京に引っ越してくる。言葉も文化も違う新天地での生活に馴染めないドレは、近所のカンフー少年チョンたちにいじめられる。ドレは彼らから逃げてばかりいたが、ある日、マンションの管理人ハン（ジャッキー・チェン）に助けられる。実はカンフーの達人であるハンは、自分を守るために使うことを条件に、ドレにカンフーを教える。ドレはカンフーの訓練にひたむきに取り組み、同時に、逃げずに立ち向かうことの大切さも学んでいく。やがてドレは、チョンとのカンフー決戦の日を迎える。

This remake is incredible. The chemistry between Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith is unmatchable. The story is engaging and full of action that draws in the audience. The cinematography perfectly outlines the plot and makes the fight scenes that much more interesting to watch.

I enjoyed the original karate kid as a kid. The newer version wasn’t that bad. The acting was good and the storyline stayed the same with a modern twist. It is very entertaining and it is a good story for kids to see. Dedication and discipline are shown as clear messages
