2013年8月11日午前7時。太平洋の深海から突如現れた謎の巨大生命体によって、まずサンフランシスコ湾が襲撃された。打つ手のないまま3つの都市がわずか6日間で壊滅、人類は絶滅の危機に晒される。人類に残された道は“絶滅”するか“戦う”かのふたつしかない。そんな中、環太平洋沿岸(パシフィック・リム)諸国は、PPDC(パン・パシフィック・ディフェンス・コープ)を設立、専門家たちの英知を結集して人型巨大兵器“イェーガー”を開発する。だが、人類をあざ笑うかのように、巨大生命体は次々と海底から姿を現し、破壊を繰り返す。巨大生命体の侵攻を食い止めるため、そして人類存続のため、モリ・マコ(菊地凛子)ら選ばれたパイロットたちは“イェーガー”に乗り込んでいくのだった……。

I love this movie for one reason, that it just doesn't care. It is dumb, certain plot points can be very contrived, some of the acting is over the top. However, the film is not interested in these things. It just wants to show big robots and big monsters fight each other. Every criticism I have of the film is immediately forgotten, once I remember that I saw a Jäger suplex a kaiju. This is an awesome film, and I will hear nothing else.
