知られざる昆虫の世界。毎年秋には冬への備えと共に、冷酷なバッタ軍団ホッパー（声＝ケヴィン・スペイシー）に“お供え”をして生きのびているアリ王国。今年も母である女王アッダ姫のもと食料集めをするアリたちだが、アイデアマンだがドジでトラブルメーカーの働きアリのフリック（デイヴ・フォーリー）が発明した食料刈り取り機が大暴走、せっかく集めた食料がなくなってしまう事態に。食料がないのでバッタ軍団は大暴れ。フリックは裁判にかけられ、アリ王国を守る用心棒の大きな虫を探してくることを命令され旅立った。

This is a wonderful movie about an ants nest and the need for collecting food before the long winter ahead. After being an outcast and causing all of the supplies to be no more, the little ant must seek the help of unlikely friends in the insect circus. The film is a beautifully animated movie with themes that are relatable of being an outcast, friendship and a wanting to belong. There is also a romantic storyline, where the lowly ant is in love with the soon-to-be-queen ant so he is ultimately doing all of this is impress her
