北朝鮮。ムーン大佐（ウィル・ユン・リー）という危険人物を暗殺する任務を受けた英国秘密諜報部員ジェームズ・ボンド（ピアース・ブロスナン）は、軍に捕らえられ拷問を受ける。ムーン大佐の腹心の部下で捕まっていたザオ（リック・ユーン）との捕虜交換で、ボンドは自由の身となり香港へ。しかし彼は諜報部員の資格を剥脱。汚名を挽回すべく、ザオを追ってキューバのハバナに飛ぶ。そこで美女ジンクス（ハル・ベリー）と知り合うが、彼女は実はNSAのエージェントだった。ボンドはザオの残した手がかりを得て、ロンドンへ。

As a huge fan of the James Bond Franchise, I was just kinda not interested in this one. Some of the gadgets don't make sense, the plot doesn't always make sense, it is so over the top that it almost becomes a parody of itself. I can still be enjoyed for what it is, but as a movie, it is nothing to write home about.

It's by no means a perfect film, but it's an action movie with a heart and a mind, built to do much more than just make you feel as if you've endured a visual pummeling.

James Bond is such a well know name but these movies don't do his reputation justice. A lot of the thrill of this movie is because of the special effects and set, not because of the characters or the plot, which is very sad.
