I remember as a child, "The Mask" actually terrified me... There was something I could not put my finger upon but I just know it was unnerving. BUT as I grew older I realised the brilliance of a plot where your everyday, calm and timid banker Stanley Ipkiss stumbles about a magical mask, oozing with the spirit of the infamous Norse God - Loki. Jim Carrey was the perfect choice to portray such a witty, hilarious and disturbing concept!

Jim Carrey might be the king of physical humor. This film really exemplifies how good he is at distorting his body in hilarious ways for laughs. This and Ace Ventura are Carrey classics that are one of a kind films with storylines that are actually super original. Young Cameron Diaz also really shined in this one.

It is kind of a childish film really. Some of the humor doesn't hit me today, the way it did when I was younger. Yet still, it made me laugh more than once. You either like or hate Jim Carrey, and fortunately, I think he does some great work in this. Jim Carrey is practically a cartoon character, to begin with, so he barely needed the mask.
