デイヴィッド（トム・クルーズ）は、NY出版社の若き実力者。ハンサムで裕福な彼はプレイボーイを気取っており、その日もベッドには魅力的な女性ジュリー（キャメロン・ディアス）が。ところがデイヴィッドは、親友の作家ブライアン（ジェイソン・リー）がパーティーに連れてきたガールフレンドのソフィア（ペネロペ・クルス）に一目で心を奪われる。そんなデイヴィッドの心変わりを見抜いたジュリーは、彼をドライヴへと誘い、そのまま無理心中をはかって車ごと崖に突っ込んでいった。ジュリーは死亡、デイヴィッドは一命こそ取りとめたものの、顔が醜く変形してしまう。

탄탄하고 교묘한 플롯들이 인상적이지만, 중후반에 너무 과하게 섞여 다소 난잡해 지지 않았나 하는 아쉬움..

The storyline of this movie is just weird. I applaude the originality but it was just too out of the box for me. In includes falling in love with a best friend's girlfriend and a suicidal ex-girlfriend. It's just very dramatic and the main character is not likeable.
