46年の間、家族のためにひたすら働いてきた自動車整備工カーター・チェンバース（モーガン・フリーマン）。彼は学生時代、哲学の教授から勧められ“棺おけリスト”を作ったことがあった。それは、自分たちが棺おけに入る前に、やりたいこと、見たいものすべてを書き出したリストのことだった。とはいえ、カーターの前には現実という壁が立ちはだかった。結婚、子供、さまざまな責任。そのうち“棺おけリスト”は、そのチャンスを失ったという苦い思い出と、仕事の合間に時折思い出す程度の空想に変わっていた。一方、会社を大きくすることに人生のすべてをつぎ込んできた大金持ちの実業家エドワード・コール（ジャック・ニコルソン）。多忙な人生を過ごしてきた彼は、企業買収や美味しいコーヒーを飲むこと以上に、より深く自分が求めているものについて考えることさえできなかった。対照的な人生を歩んできた、出会うはずのない二人。しかし彼らは、ガンで余命6ヶ月と宣告され、病院のベッドで隣り合わせたことから、人生の最後を共に過ごす仲間となる。

With two great actors such as Jack Nicholson and Morgan freeman, I really want to give this film a try. Looking at ratings, I find it interesting that it got such low critic reviews, but high audience reviews. With high audience reviews I assume it's more of a light heartland touching film.

This movie like many also has mixed reviews so I do want to give it a try. It looks like it would have many sentimental moments throughout and just be a good movie to watch.

I feel like a movie with this plot should have felt a bit more sincere and substantial. The lack of an engaging and truly well crafted plot was unfortunate. At the same time, it was a good story in its premise: really enjoying the last days you have.
