This movie could have easily flopped as it had to meld two different timelines together, but honestly it does a pretty good job! It keeps with the tone the X-Men movies have presented in the past, while tackling a well loved comic book arc from the 80s. Comic book purists might not like the changes made in this film, but the average superhero movie enthusiast will love it!

This movie pretty much retcons and entire franchise, but at least it does it in an interesting way. Singer continues to be an interesting writer and does some great stuff here with time travel. Of course, the characters are still enjoyable and the action is great, but it is the story that takes center stage.

The way X-Men now uses time travel in this film to jump through story lines effectively was thoroughly impressive although X-Men is known to have continuity errors in its storyline (never kill off characters you plan to use later!) Still, I very much enjoyed this added element and unique plot!
