ゴッサム・シティにまたしても新たな怪人が現れた。全てを凍らせ、街を氷の王国にしようと企むMr.フリーズ（アーノルド・シュワルツェネッガー）がアイスメン軍団を率いてゴッサム・ミュージアムを襲撃、展示されていたダイアモンドを奪おうとしているのだ。Mr.フリーズの正体は、研究中に事故に遭って死亡した妻の死体を蘇生できなかった分子生物学者フリーズ博士が狂気に陥った挙げ句、変身した姿だった。ゴードン警視総監（パット・ヒングル）からの報せを受けたブルース・ウェイン（ジョージ・クルーニー）はバットマンに変身してロビン（クリス・オドネル）と共に現場に急行しだが、フリーズ・ガンを乱射してあらゆるものを凍らせてしまうMr.フリーズの前に2人はなすすべもなく、相手を取り逃がしてしまう。

One of those stories that without a particularly strong plot manages to come through in a big way, due to the acting, dialog, situations and direction.

Batman and Robin made me regret ever exclaiming that I wanted superhero movies to be more like the comic books or cartoon series. I cannot help but wonder how much the famous actors such as Clooney, Schwarsnegger and Thurman got paid to participate in such a cringey, cliche and pun-filled disaster of a movie...
