アポロ11号、12号が無事月に着陸した。ベテラン宇宙飛行士のジム（トム・ハンクス）は14号に乗る予定だったが、計画自体が政治家や国民から飽きられて来ていた。13号のクルーが病気になり、急遽ジムのチームが13号を任される。だが着陸船操縦士ケン（ゲイリー・シニーズ）は風疹の疑いで降板させられ、ジムとフレッド（ビル・パクストン）は断腸の思いで代替要員のジャック（ケヴィン・ベーコン）を受入れる。そして70年 4月11日、アポロ13号は出発した。ジムたちは恒例のテレビ中継にサービス満点で出演するが、全国ネットがどれも彼らを無視しているとは知る由もなかった。中継の直後、ジャックが酸素タンクの攪拌スイッチを押すと、突然爆発が起こった。酸素が流出して燃料電池の出力も低下してゆく。研究者たちの予測は絶望的だが、フライトディレクターのジーン（エド・ハリス）は絶対に彼らを生還させると決意する。

I have not seen this movie yet, though I really feel like I should. It's one of those movies you hear about from time to time, and I've heard people say that it's on their lists of "classic" brilliant movies. In addition, it tells the story of one of the most miraculous missions ever. I'm guessing this really is a must see.
