Ridley Scott’s prequel to Alien gets an A- from me. Most people didn’t like this one because they hold Alien in way too high a regard, in my opinion. Alien was great for its time but doesn’t hold up as much. This film had a few holes in the plot but other than that was completely fascinating to see how the story continues to roll over and fall down like dominos. It quickly becomes a disastrous trip into an alien planet and a discovery on human evolution itself. I love how philosophical the film got and how it explored humanity’s biggest questions.

Tight scenario writing. Tangibly captured the dystopian, space-filled moody vibes, with great plot development. Lots of action tastefully modernizing the potentially outdated usage of alien-creatures. Fascinating to examine the journey of David the android (Michael Fassbender) as the audience follows how real or how unreal androids are in the present world. The last quarter of the movie was delectable in the portrayal of the tenseness as the audience is kept on its toes about whether the David that got on the plane is the real android or the Engineer that was discovered in the alien base.

まさか「エイリアン」の序章ストーリーだとは思わなんだわ。 さすがに結構グロくて面白かったww もう少しエイリアンとの関連性を広報したら良いんじゃないかなぁ？もしかしてそれをしない狙いが…？まさかね…。 ストーリーはまぁ、さすがSFホラーな感じで面白かったけど最後の最後に「え？これってエイリアンシリーズじゃね？」って思うより、最初からそういう心構えで見たかったかな。 でも単体の映画としても見れるからあえてエイリアンを広報しなかったのかもしれない。 おかげでエイリアンシリーズつなげてみてみたくなったよ。 2012.9.5 劇場鑑賞

It was a decent movie on its own but as a pet of the alien series it was very disappointing. It fell away from the advancing of the series. It didn’t really go with the series rather just stood alone which was a disappointment as I was looking forward to more of the series. The movie was a little weird but I was already bais

I found Ridley Scott's film "Prometheus" to be a brilliantly intense and riveting contemporary science fiction story. The movie is witty and follows an intellectual route. It is maybe best to watch this movie more than once to truly appreciate its greatness. "Prometheus" raises questions about human life and its origins in such a marvelous and thought-provoking manner. I could definitely see the nod to Scott's famous "Alien" franchise too.

Prometheus could have been such a good film. Some great casting, and a chance for Ridley Scott to reboot the series for contemporary audiences. However, the film is ruined by unlikable characters, confusing and byzantine plot decisions, absurdities, and a pompous self-righteousness. It is as profoundly terrible as Ridley Scott wanted it to be profound.
