22世紀。人類は地球から遠く離れた宇宙にまで進出していた。そこで豊かな大自然と未知の動植物が生息する衛星パンドラに出会い、“アバター・プロジェクト”を開始する。青い肌と人間よりも大きな体を持ち、原始的な生活を送る先住民族“ナヴィ”が暮らすこの星の大地には、莫大な利益をもたらす鉱物が眠っていた。だが、大気は人間にとって有毒な性質。鉱物採掘を実現するには大気の問題をクリアしなければならない。これを解決するために、ナヴィと人間のDNAを組み合わせた肉体“アバター”を生み出し、自由に活動できるようにすること。それがプロジェクトの目的だった。戦闘による負傷で下半身が麻痺、車椅子の生活を送っていた元兵士のジェイク（サム・ワーシントン）は、体の自由を取り戻すために計画に参加、“アバター”を手に入れる。だが、パンドラの地に降り立ち、ナヴィと触れ合ううちに、族長の娘ネイティリ（ゾーイ・サルダナ）と恋に落ちる。次第にパンドラの生命を脅かす任務に疑問を抱くようになったジェイクは、やがてこの星の運命を決する選択を強いられていくのだった……。

From beginning to end of the story was well written. This modern interpretation of dances with wolves was poignant for our world today and I felt that this movie had a deep connection with my believes regarding how we treat the planets that we encounter.

This film is fantastic. It contains everything you could ever dream of having. There's definitely a strong emphasis on action, with fighting taking place between humans and an alien species, but it's interesting to have the future humans being portrayed as mainly evil. There's also a romantic element that is beautiful to see play out over the 3h. There's also betrayal in the film which inevitably leads to issues in both the avatars life and human life. It is a must see film not just because of the animation that completely revolutionized the industry, but also because of the captivating storyline.

One of my ultimate favorite movies! The detail in the movie in the land of Pandora was absolutely stunning. I usually prefer funny action movies but this was just great. Every time this movie pops up on tv I always end up watching it over and over.

어렸을때 영화관에서 봤으면 더 재밌었을텐데!!! 당시에 어떻게 이런 영화를 만들었나싶음 역시 제임스 카메론….. 좋은 결말까지 완벽했다 눈물남
