ペンシルバニア州バックス郡。グラハム・ヘス（メル・ギブソン）は妻を交通事故で失ったことにより、神の存在を疑い、牧師をやめて農場を営んでいる。ある朝、ヘス家のとうもろこし畑に巨大なミステリーサークルができていた。最初はいたずらかと思ったが、飼い犬が突然凶暴化。また、世界中に同じことが起きており、町の人々は次々とミステリーサークルから遠い地域に避難していく。グラハムたちは思い出のつまった我が家から逃げるのを拒んでいたが、やがて宇宙人がヘス家に侵入してくる。グラハムの弟メリル（ホアキン・フェニックス）はバットを持って宇宙人と対決し、宇宙人が水に弱いことを発見。グラハムの幼い長男モーガン（ローリー・カルキン）は宇宙人に毒ガスを注入されたが、彼はぜんそくで灰が閉じていたため無事だった。その幸運により、グラハムは再び神の存在を信じるようになるのだった。

M. Night Shyamalan is a director known for his questionable choices. The film "Signs" is definitely not the easiest to follow and does feel like everything is crammed into one cinematic moment to try and create a masterpiece. This film is by no means a masterpiece on any form. Although, I will admit the intense moments of sensitivity were quite interesting but not magical enough for a 4 or 5 star rating.

배울만한 연출이 많았다.. 외계인 모건을 잡았을 때 난투극 말고 떨어진 손전등을 보여주다가 숨어있는 보를 향해 비춰서 보가 나타나는 연출 인상깊었다. 복선이 딱딱 맞춰질 때의 쾌감!

Signs is a mediocre alien suspense movie from M Night Shyamalan. Not as good as his earlier films, but not as bad as his later ones, Signs is genuinely creepy at times, but suffers from too many cliches, implausibility, and terrible costume design.

Mel Gibson shines in this subtle performance as a Dad who turned his back on faith but with the arrival of extraterrestrials is forced to confront his past and his faith. A great symbolic film that points to the fact that things may indeed have some greater purpose. It intertwines this natural phenomenon with this individual’s story super well.
