This is when the series starts to differentiate itself from its established formula. We are now walking around a city instead of being trapped, and thus McClane now has a sidekick to play off of. Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson are both very good, and the action is very well shot. It even tries to talk about racism, though very blatantly. Very entertaining film.

I saw it twice and liked it vastly more the second time around, when I'd adjusted my expectations and had my bearings from the get-go. Then it became about digging the spectacle - not to mention the hilarious sexual politics.

The plot doesn't flow very smoothly which makes it a bit hard to follow. It does have the suspense factor though, and will have you on the edge of your seat. It is a very tense film and hits hard considering the violence in today's world.
