紀元前480年。スパルタ王レオニダス（ジェラルド・バトラー）の元にペルシャ帝国からの遣いがやってきた。国を滅ぼされたくなければペルシャ大王クセルクセスに土地と水を差し出し服従をしろという使者。レオニダスはその場で使者を殺し、スパルタは100万の大軍を敵に回すことになった。開戦の許しを乞うためにレオニダスは司祭の元を訪れたが、託宣者は神のお告げであるとして出兵を禁じた。煩悶する王に王妃ゴルゴ（レナ・ヘディー）は毅然として言う。「自分の心に従いなさい」と。評議会の反対を押し切って戦う決心をしたレオニダスの前にスパルタの精鋭300名の兵士たちが集まった。

Truly entertaining film. A brief history explanation. A commentary on the historical events of the Greek and Persian wars. Told in the point of the Greek warriors. A nice twist of showing the war culture of Ancient Greek in the upbringing of children and expectations of men and women in the society. Great work on the directors part. A must-watch
