人類が地球を捨て去り、別の惑星に移住してから1000年後。伝説の兵士サイファ(ウィル・スミス)とその息子キタイ(ジェイデン・スミス)を乗せた宇宙船が帰還中、トラブルに巻き込まれてしまう。機体は大破し、緊急シグナル“トーチ”を載せた尾翼部が見知らぬ惑星に落下。それを追ってなんとかその惑星に機体を不時着させるが、生存者はサイファとキタイの二人だけであった。サイファは大怪我を負い、自分たちが住む星に帰るため、一人でトーチを探しに行こうとするキタイにサイファは言う。「ここは“最上級危険惑星”、人類が捨てた地球だ……」そこには人間の姿はどこにもなく、大自然だけが広がり、見たことのない様々な野生動物たちが生息していた。ずっと父親のような兵士になることだけを夢みていたキタイは、今、そのチャンスが巡ってきたのだと信じ、荒れ果てた土地に足を踏み入れる。だがそんなキタイの前に、人類抹消のために進化した惑星の予期せぬ危機が次から次へと襲い掛かるのだった……。

As much as I love Jaden and Will Smith this movie is just not well shot. The script is unnatural and Will has to carry much of the acting performance. The story is very forgettable and the characters are not very relatable, so the audience can’t really connect with them. The special effects and cgi are alright, I would say that’s the only saving grace for this film. If they remade this movie with better action and a more well developed plot o would consider rewatching it.

I had high expectations for this movie but it is lacking in the cinematography and the story line. Will Smith and Jaden Smith were good as actors but just did not fit this movie, I think. I would have liked to have seen more action and adventure.
