豊かな自然に囲まれたイギリスの湖水地方。青いジャケットを着たいたずら好きなうさぎ・ピーターと自然を愛する心優しい女性ビア（ローズ・バーン）が暮らすお隣に、大都会ロンドンから神経質そうな男性トーマス・マグレガー（ドーナル・グリーソン）が越してくる。両親を亡くしたピーターにとってビアは心を許せるたった一人の女性だったが、マグレガーも美しいビアに次第に惹かれていく。ピーターはライバルとなったマグレガーを都会に追い返そうと様々ないたずらを仕掛け、マグレガーも大人げない行動で反撃する。ビアはそんな二人を暖かく見守っていたが、あるアクシデントをきっかけにマグレガーがロンドンに戻ることになり、ピーターの心に変化が訪れる。

This rendition of Peter Rabbit is not at all what I expected. I didn't anticipate Peter Rabbit himself being represented as such a sassy character, and that was honestly a little disappointing. If you take this movie just for what it is, though, it is funny in parts and could be entertaining for those who don't mind its deviation from their expectations.

The movie Peter Rabbit was described as being edgy and irreverent which I think is a huge mistake to have taken and this absolutely disrespects the legendary and classic tales written by Beatrix Potter. The stylish simplisty of the tales were completely lost in the movie adaptation. The Peter we see in the movie is far from lovable. Instead, he echoes the notion of a prankster like Horrid Henry which is just frustrating and cringey to watch if you are not below the age of 5.
