48年、夏。長年勤めた教職を退いた未亡人のデイジー（ジェシカ・タンディ）は、ある日運転中に危うく事故を起こしかけ、母の身を案じた息子のブーリー（ダン・エイクロイド）は、彼女の専用の運転手としてホーク（モーガン・フリーマン）という初老の黒人を雇う。しかし典型的なユダヤ人で、元教師のデイジーには、運転手なんて金持ちぶっているようで気性が許さなかった。どうしても乗車拒否を続けるデイジーは、黙々と職務に励む飄々としたホークの姿に根負けし、悪態をつきながらも車に乗ることになる。こうして始まったデイジーとホークの奇妙で不思議な関係は、1台の車の中で、やがて何物にも代えがたい友情の絆を生み出してゆく。

"Driving Miss Daisy" is a really warm and heartfelt story about the relationship of a woman and her driver. It offers insight into the societal atmosphere of the 1960s and at the same time delivers excellent humor. The resulting plot is honest, relatable, and satisfying.
