ダグ・クエイド（アーノルド・シュワルツェネッガー）はいつも同じ火星旅行の夢を見てうなされる。ある日彼は＜リコール社＞を訪れ、模造記憶による火星旅行をすることにする。選んだプログラムは悪と戦う諜報員、そして夢と同じブルネットの女性と恋に落ちる－－。しかし旅行は失敗した。彼は本来火星の支配者コーヘイゲン（ロニー・コックス）の片腕として働くハウザーという名の諜報員で、その記憶を全て消されて地球に送り込まれていたのだが、その消された記憶がリコール・マシーンによって甦り始めてしまったのだ。コーヘイゲンの部下もそのことに気づき、クエイドの悪夢のような逃避行が始まる。

Just a near perfect action film. It gets everything right that it needs to. The characters are there, but they are just functional, not especially interesting. But this is an Arnold film, when you see that lovely big Austrian man you know what to expect. Contrary to other Arnold films, the story in this film is actually very good and is to this day still debated.
