空軍を除隊したジョニー・キャッシュ（ホアキン・フェニックス）は、初恋の女性ヴィヴィアン（ジニファー・グッドウィン）と結婚し、テネシー州メンフィスで訪問セールスの仕事を開始した。向かない職業について塞ぎ込んでいたジョニーは、ある日、街角のサン・レコードに飛び込んで強引にオーディションの約束を取りつける。空軍時代に書いた曲を歌った彼は合格し、プロのミュージシャンとして活動を始めることになった。やがてツアー中、少年時代の憧れの的だったタレント、ジューン・カーター（リーズ・ウィザースプーン）と共演したジョニーは、彼女への恋心を燃やしはじめる。

The construction is deliberately episodic, and individual settings often appear to owe more to the modern conceptions of stage-technique than to the cinema. But the ingenuity with which the episodes are assembled sets a new level in film-construction.

Most biographical movies tend to fall into the trap of just simply revealing a timeline that could just be learned from a wikipedia page. This one however, incorporates more personality into it, and it really feels like you are learning more about Johnny Cash's personal life.

Walk the Line is a great film that follows the life of Johnny Cash and truly does him and his career justice. This is a must see for all Johnny Cash fans out there, or just for music fans in general.
