クエスタ・ベルデ・エステーツなる郊外の宅地開発の行なわれた1区画に住む、不動産会社勤務のスティーヴ（クレイグ・Ｔ・ネルンン）一家。妻ダイアン（ジョベス・ウィリアムス）と16歳の長女デイナ（ドミニク・ダン）、7歳の長男ロビー（オリバー・ロビンス）、5歳の末娘キャロル＝アン（ヘザー・オルーク）が、その家族構成だ。そして、不思議な一連の出来事はある夜、始まった。放送が終了して何も写ってないＴＶ画面とキャロル＝アンが、言葉を交わしていたのだ。さらに翌日、再びＴＶは彼女を呼び出し、家はゆれ、霊のようなものがＴＶから飛び出した。それ以降、家では奇妙な現象がひんぱつし、嵐の夜に庭の木がロビーを襲う。

What a classic! If you are a fan of horror films then I’m sure you have seen this one. If you haven’t then stop what you are doing and watch! Though isn’t as horrifying then it probably was the time it came out, but it’s still a classic that is horrifyingly enjoyable.

This one is a difficult one to review because I don't know if I should give this a positive review or what. It is a very effective horror film. I felt awful through the entire film, and I never want to rewatch it again. I've seen way worse in terms of gore and scares, but no movie has affected me like Poltergeist. Someday I'll have to watch it again, and examine if it was just a one-time thing, or if it is this horrific for me to see.
