長年子どもを授からないことに悩んでいたパン屋の夫婦(ジェームズ・コーデン、エミリー・ブラント)は、その原因が魔女の呪いにあったことを知る。ある日、突然訪ねてきた魔女(メリル・ストリープ)から「呪いを解くためには、森に入って〈白い牛、赤い頭巾、黄色い毛、金のように輝く靴〉を集めることが必要だ」と聞かされた二人は、子どもを授かるという“願い(wish)”を叶えたい一心で森の奥へと出かけていくのだった。時を同じくして、おとぎ話の主人公たちも、それぞれの“願い(wish)”を持って森へと入っていく。赤ずきん(リラ・クロフォード)は、オオカミ(ジョニー・デップ)に狙われていることにも気付かずに、楽しいことを探しながら森に住むおばあさんのお見舞いへ、ジャック(ダニエル・ハットルストーン)はお金持ちになることを夢見ながら牛を売りに出かけ、シンデレラ(アナ・ケンドリク)は母の眠る森のお墓の前で舞踏会に行きたいと祈り、そしてラプンツェル(マッケンジー・マウジー)は魔女によって森の中の塔に閉じ込められながらも、いつか自由の身になることを願っていた。そんな彼らとパン屋の夫婦が森の中で出会い、それぞれの運命が少しずつ変わっていく……。

Not my favorite type of movie. I felt like it was very dramatic when they were trying to be funny or the music was just too much. It had a lot going on so I never really knew exactly what was happening throughout the movie. If you do enjoy musicals like this though I would still watch it for the experience.

It is really hard to go wrong with Sondheim, who's music and works are always complex and riveting. The complexity of Sondheim's work can make it very easy to fall short, but this movie does a good job at staying onto of the music and story. It does fall short at certain parts and lags a little bit, but the cast gives it their all. And of course Meryl Streep kills it, but what else is new?

Not my cup of tea. Not that i’m not into musicals or anything but this one felt way too Disney for me, for lack of a better way of describing. Sure it’s got a big ensemble cast but the plot wasn’t very interesting to me and it felt like a project that was more about the big names in it rather than the story itself.
