演技を若い俳優たちにコーチしている中年の男マイケル・ドーシー（ダスティン・ホフマン）。実は彼も俳優なのだが、演出家ともめたりするのでトラブル・メーカーとみられて、役がつかず失業中。ルーム・メイトで脚本家志望のジェフ（ビル・マーレイ）と生活のためにウェイターをしている。生徒の一人サンディ（テリー・ガー）は、明日の病院ものソープ・ドラマのオーディションに自信がなく、マイケルが個人レッスンを買って出て、翌日ＴＶ局までついて行ってやったが、その甲斐もなくサンディは落第。タフじゃないというので、台詞も読ましてもらえなかったのだ。翌日、彼は女装して、ＴＶ局へ行きドロシー・マイケルズと名乗る。ディレクターのロン（ダブニー・コールマン）はドロシーを見ただけで、もっとタフな女性が欲しいという。

This movie is a great comedy with a great script. The script is cleverly written and contains great dialogue throughout the movie. I enjoyed the supporting actors’ roles throughout this movie and they definitely added in making this movie a funny, interesting movie.

"Tootsie" is a great comedy, that makes you cringe, but in a good way. To have this type of love triangle that could be avoided if Dorthy didn't become too wrapped up in his new great acting career. A lovable film I highly recommend.

Tootsie is a hilarious classic, truly a wonderful film. Dustin Hoffman plays his role(s) brilliantly and is so convincing. It's a great story, well scripted, and effortlessly funny. I highly recommend watching this movie if you're into classic comedies.
