華氏911。それは、自由が燃える温度。映画は2000年のアメリカ合衆国大統領選挙、「当選」を祝うゴア候補のニュース報道から始まる。ところが、ブッシュ候補が勝ってしまう。ブッシュの大統領就任式。ホワイトハウスに向かうリムジンを、反対派の人々が阻止しようと道路に立ちふさがる。米国史上、こんな大統領就任式は、前代未聞である。その大統領とは、現大統領ジョージ・W・ブッシュ「華氏911」の主演である。911の直後、アメリカ在住のサウジアラビアの大富豪オサマ・ビンラディンの一族24人を、自家用ジェットでの出国許可をブッシュは出している。貿易センターに突入したハイジャック犯は、ほとんどがサウジアラビア人だったが、ブッシュは911の調査を途中で打ち切った。そして宣言した「イラクを攻撃しろ」。ホワイトハウスのテロ対策専門家だったリチャード・クラークは、後にTVで告白する。「イラクは関係ない。テロリストはサウジアラビア人だし、首謀者のビンラディンは、アフガンにいる」。すると、ラムズフェルド国防長官はこう答えた。「アフガンを攻撃しても、何もない」。だがイラクには、石油がある。…これら一連のブッシュ政権の行動に疑問を抱いたマイケル・ムーア監督は、豊富な事実を基に様々な角度からその真相を明らかにしていく。

Though a very subjective and politically charged film, I really enjoyed it. It gives an interesting look at some of the things that happened at 9/11 and comes up with new and interesting theories on why that is. I don't necessarily agree with all the theories, but they are interesting thought experiments none the less.

The construction is deliberately episodic, and individual settings often appear to owe more to the modern conceptions of stage-technique than to the cinema. But the ingenuity with which the episodes are assembled sets a new level in film-construction.

This movie is very informational and will be of interest to any Americans or anyone interested in 9/11 and the resulting war on terror. It is a controversial documentary that will likely infuriate many but it has a lot of important information and the producer is pretty reliable.
