ダイアナ（デミ・ムーア）とデイヴィッド（ウディ・ハレルソン）夫婦は深く愛し合い、それぞれ仕事でも成功を収めていた。そしてマイホームを建てるために土地を買ったりもした。ところが、不況が訪れ事態が急変した。2人はデイヴィッドの父親からお金を借りてラスベガスへと向かった。初日、そこでの賭けは大成功となり大金を手にした。しかし次の日、2人はルーレットで全財産をすってしまう。そこに現れたのが億万長者のジョン（ロバート・レッドフォード）。彼は、ダイアナにひと目惚れをし、彼女と一夜を過ごせられれば100万ドルを2人にあげようと申し出る。この非常識な言葉に初め2人は怒りを覚えるが、将来を築くために今はお金が必要と申し出を受けることになる。

The plot to Indecent Proposal was a bit unrealistic to me and I couldn't find myself relating to the film. It was entertaining to watch, of course, and it wasn't the worst movie I've ever watched, but I don't see myself watching it again any time soon.

This film is actually one of the best of that year. If you want to know what budding young relationships look like in America these days, this is the most pleasurable tutorial you'll ever see.
